href="http://www.greenroad.com/">GreenRoad, the leader in driver performance and safety management, today announced a number of customer wins through its partnership with Towergate Underwriting Transportation, one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist insurance products. Through this agreement, Towergate markets GreenRoad to its clients, which has resulted in a number of new wins for GreenRoad including DLR Transport, Pharmacy Plus, Clive Cowern Transport Services and Goldenville.

These fleets of HGVs and LCVs chose GreenRoad with the goals of reducing crashes, increasing miles per gallon and potentially reducing insurance premiums.

In the summer of 2011, DLR Transport of Newark starting using GreenRoad across its fleet of 20 HGVs. “As a member of the Road Haulage Industry body we have always encouraged a culture of safe driving. But since using GreenRoad we have been able to raise awareness about the high standard of driving we expect and how to achieve it. As a result we have cut fleet risk nearly 70% and noticed a reduction in fuel consumption. We are hoping to now negotiate a better deal on our insurance through Towergate,” said Simon Foster, operations manager.

“We are now planning to campaign to educate drivers about how to reduce fuel consumption, particularly using GreenRoad’s idling feature, and then hopefully we will be able to reward drivers with a fuel bonus,” Foster added.

Pharmacy Plus runs nine depots across the UK and now uses GreenRoad in its fleet of 38 vans collecting and delivering prescribed medication to nursing homes and care homes. Operations Director Steve Wells evaluated GreenRoad after hearing about it through his insurance broker.

“Our initial objective was to change driver behaviour with a view to reducing our insurance premium. The first obstacle is that if you don’t know what the problem is you can’t tackle it. We chose GreenRoad because it could provide the information both drivers and managers need to understand driver behaviour. This way we can ensure that our professional drivers have a good reputation in the business.”

The programme has already delivered on its promises with driver risk dropping 75% to an average of seven in the first six months. “We started using GreenRoad as a tool to focus our team of drivers on preventing accidents but we are now going to use GreenRoad to help drivers understand techniques that increase their miles per gallon,” added Wells.

Clive Cowern Transport Services is a road haulage and pallet distribution based in Shropshire. 30 HGV drivers are now using GreenRoad and the average risk has reduced 65%. The risk level is continuing to drop and Darren Cowern expects this to get even better with the introduction of an incentive programme.

Another new GreenRoad customer is Goldenville in Kent, which manages distribution for a major supermarket with a fleet of 26 trucks, primarily 38-tonne artics. It chose GreenRoad primarily to reduce risk and crashes with a view to cutting insurance costs. It also helps them to investigate any incidents by understanding the driving behaviour at the time.

By offering GreenRoad’s services, Towergate hopes to help its clients cut their accident claims rate and possibly negotiate more favourable insurance premiums. It also gains new intelligence about risk and safety levels leading to more effective risk management strategies and tailored insurance offerings that reflect the reduced risk.

GreenRoad provides the most effective, proactive approach to smarter and safer driving. Because driving decisions are responsible for 90% of all accidents and up to 33% of fuel spend, the only way to truly reduce risk and improve efficiency is by focusing on driver decision-making.

GreenRoad provides drivers and fleet managers with real-time, comprehensive feedback, online reporting, analysis and coaching on their abilities, manoeuvres and patterns. As a result, GreenRoad positively impacts both conscious and unconscious driving behaviour – the key to creating more fuel-efficient and safer drivers.

About GreenRoad

GreenRoad is the leader in fleet driver performance and safety management. The unique GreenRoad Driver Improvement Loop™ uses technology-based, personalised driver self-improvement to immediately transform driving culture and deliver the best drivers on the road. Proven across 85,000 drivers worldwide, representing innovative fleets from all industry segments, GreenRoad dramatically reduces crashes and fuel consumption so customers realise positive ROI within months. If the goal of the initiative is to improve the driving culture – how are we going to do that on a couple drivers with a couple free boxes? What will these drivers think of their supervisors? Why were they singled out? How is does this initiative support the organizational goals for the fiscal year? Generally, this approach is more about the supplier getting in your door, then it is about your likelihood of sustainable organizational and financial results from an initiative.

Driving Safer and Smarter…

Blog

GreenRoad in the News
<guid

Assign a project manager who collaborates directly with key departmental stakeholders from Risk & Safety, Operations, Human Resources, Fleet Management, and Finance to define specific detailed project requirements that have tangible, measurable, ROI. While this seems obvious, many companies will skip this stage and go right to applying a solution to jump start a project. In-vehicle technology solution providers are constantly soliciting their services to companies with fleet vehicles. This is not a commodity market and not all solutions are equal. The impacts to your employees, culture, and financial return vary significantly from supplier to supplier. Don’t assume requirements (such as project controls, management dashboards, application functionality, data, enterprise integration, measurements, policy, and workflow) are met. ‘Telematics’ and other similar projects tend to fail and the companies usually encounter over spending, project restarts, rework, and/or unmet expectations. Many of you reading this – have a “trash heap” of in-vehicle technology past projects.

Subscribe this and other blog updates by entering your email address to the right of this post.

GreenRoad Offers Automated Fuel Tax Reporting Through Partnership with ProMiles

Press Releases
<guid

Maybe everything if from the name employee’s decide what a project is an how it will affect them. Every project that a company invests time and resources into gets broad organizational exposure. You hear the hallway grumbling about “this or that project” that the company has underway. The name of the project can have serious impacts on what the organization thinks the project is and how it will effect employee’s (and management) personally. Let’s be clear – GPS stands for Global Positioning System and is a technology component that is becoming a standard in everything from vehicles to mobile devices. Like a clock on a microwave, or on a coffee maker or DVD player – GPS is simply an input into adding location information to the things that we value. Imagine if your company embarked on an extensive upgrade to your information technology infrastructure to benefit employees and customers – and named the project “The CPU” project. Pick a project name that creates excitement for your company and meaningfully represents the results that you are seeking everyone to participate in achieving. The “Driving Excellence Project”, “Driving Performance and Safety Program” or the “Drive Green Initiative” – for example.

Please enter your email address in the box to the right of this post to subscribe to email alerts on this and other useful blog posts from GreenRoad.

GreenRoad Product Update: Trip-Splitting

Blog

Product Updates
<guid

We also incorporate feedback from customers about how we can make their lives easier. With that in mind, we rang in the new year with a trip splitting enhancement that is already getting cheers from our bus customers.

If you have multiple drivers sharing a vehicle, you’re probably familiar with this problem: Driver 1 keys in, Driver 2 takes over the bus and forgets to key in… and two trips in the real world become one trip in GreenRoad (with Driver 1’s score either benefitting or suffering from Driver 2’s performance!) But now, it’s easy to split trips in Central- so that you have complete and accurate records for each driver. Just click “Trips” under Fleet Management, enter the date range that contains the trip you want to split, and click “Submit”. Then find the trip, select it, and click “Split” above the trip list. Enter the first and second driver, select the split time, and confirm. Poof – you have created two trips. See? That was easy.

We have a full and exciting product roadmap for 2012. Stay tuned for more to come.
