GreenRoad Attends Road Haulage Annual Lunch

Article by Nigel Porter, Enterprise Sales UK at GreenRoad

There’s no such thing as a free lunch. So at the RHA Annual lunch on 12th May, which I attended as a RHA Associate representing GreenRoad Enterprise Sales, I used the opportunity to meet with many members and learn first-hand about the important issues facing the transport industry. The event was attended by about 400 RHA members who came to hear the RHA present plans for future campaigns and describe how they will help members overcome challenges facing the industry. Of course, the Annual Lunch is also a great opportunity for RHA members to network, for RHA regional organisers to meet local members, and for members to spend some hard-earned profits on food and drink!

BBC news presenter Bill Turnbull interviewed Richard Burnett, RHA CEO, in a TV-style session highlighting the work RHA undertakes to address key issues including driver shortages, fuel costs and road congestion. The discussion of fuel costs was particularly interesting for me since GreenRoad allows fleets to benefit almost immediately from reduced fuel usage and reduced operational costs through improved driving behaviour.

Following guest speaker Matt Dawson MBE entertained the guests with lively tales about his rugby and TV career and put us all in a relaxed frame of mind to mingle and discuss industry topics of interest afterwards.

During the lunch, which GreenRoad co-sponsored, an onscreen presentation showed guests how insight into how improved driving behaviour can create smarter fleets, deliver greater savings and increase safety.

All in all, the Road Haulage Annual lunch was an enjoyable event that left us better informed and happier for time spent networking up with colleagues and friends.
