Sharing Best Practices at the WIA Western Ice Association Convention (Archive)

Last week, GreenRoad was invited by our partner, Modern Ice, to participate in the Western Ice Association’s annual convention in sunny Los Angeles, California.  Once a year, everyone who is anyone in the western packaged ice industry gets together to share best practices, listen to experts speak on industry trends, and catch up with old friends.  It was a great opportunity for us to meet up with GreenRoad customers Arctic Glacier, Yolo Ice and Creamery, and Summit Ice, and to connect with many other “Ice Men” (and women) from the west coast.

It quickly became evident that the packaged ice industry is like one big family.  I have never witnessed an industry where participants are so genuinely interested in helping one another out.  Attendees never hesitated to share ideas on how to cut costs and improve efficiency, and one theme rang true throughout the entire convention.  Driver safety and performance management technology is a must-have for anyone who operates a fleet in the packaged ice industry.

GreenRoad customers Arctic Glacier and Summit Ice were excited to share the savings they have achieved in fuel and crash costs since installing GreenRoad.  Vehicle and fuel costs are some of the top expenses for any ice manufacturer and distributer, so a reduction in these costs can have a dramatic effect on profitability.  Artic Glacier even invited all attendees to visit their plant in Vernon where we had a chance to see some vehicles equipped with GreenRoad in action.

We had a great time learning all about the packaged ice industry and GreenRoad is thrilled to be part of the “ice family”!  Many thanks go out to Modern Ice for inviting us to this special event.
