Company reduces risk by 77 percent while also saving on fuel
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. – August 19, 2008 – GreenRoad Technologies, a leader in driver safety technologies, today announced that LeFleur Transportation has added GreenRoad Driver and Fleet Safety Solution to its entire fleet of more than 300 vehicles. LeFleur Transportation, an industry leader in scheduled and non-emergency passenger transportation is dedicated to providing safe, quality and cost-effective services to its clients.
The Ridgeland, Miss., company is one of the largest non-emergency medical passenger transportation providers in the country. LeFleur’s fleet of specially equipped vehicles performs more than 750,000 trips annually. Their client base includes state agencies, individuals, nursing homes, medical facilities and worker’s compensation firms.
LeFleur was making significant investments annually to provide extensive on-the-job training while also performing multiple field audits to ensure safety. The company needed a more cost-effective way to gain greater visibility of driver behavior and provide feedback and training, while also reducing accidents. In February 2008, LeFleur began a pilot of GreenRoad Safety Center. Safety Center ranking is based on a color classification system: a green light indicates safe driving, yellow needs attention and red is high risk. During this four-month period 75 percent of LeFleur’s operators showed improvement, reducing the total fleet risk by 77 percent. With the GreenRoad Safety Center, every LeFleur driver in the red zone improved to green or yellow drivers.
“GreenRoad Safety Center strengthens our competitive advantage. We’ve increased the safety of our fleet, improved the quality of services we provide to our clients and strengthened the level of driver training – all while reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions,” said John Kubala, Director of Safety and HR, LeFleur Transportation.
“We admire LeFleur’s level of commitment to safety which extends to their community, clients and employees. Having always maintained a safe driving fleet, LeFleur has now raised the bar by redefining safety standards within their industry. We’re very excited to welcome them to the GreenRoad family and to continue working with them on achieving their safety goals,” said Dan Steere, CEO of GreenRoad.
Safety Center is a technology-based solution to driver safety that combines in-vehicle coaching with web analytical reporting. An in-vehicle sensor collects information on up to 120 different driving maneuvers. Each maneuver is evaluated in 5 categories: acceleration; braking, lane changing, cornering and speed handling. Using proprietary algorithms, maneuvers are analyzed to give drivers continuous in-vehicle feedback about areas that require improvement, and build their driver profile. Driver safety levels are displayed using a color classification system: green light indicates safe driving, yellow needs attention and red is high risk. Feedback is also available in real-time using SMS, emails and Safety Center’s password protected website. Drivers and managers are able to review detailed reports by fleet, driver, department, maneuver type, trip, etc., to easily and accurately identify their high-risk drivers and problem areas.
GreenRoad clients have reduced accidents by an average of 54 percent and lowered accident costs by an average of 49 percent.
