Tammy Evans, Vice President of Fleet Operations at Modern Transportation, Recognized for Industry Leading Fleet Safety Leadership and Innovation
REDWOOD CITY, CA –June 5, 2012 — GreenRoad, the leader in driver performance and safety management, and Modern Transportation Services, a leading provider of bulk logistics services, today announced that Tammy Evans, vice president of fleet operations at Modern, has won the first annual Fleet Safety Award co-sponsored by the American Automotive Leasing Association (AALA) and Bobit Business Media, and presented on May 22 at the Fleet Safety Conference.
The Fleet Safety Award recognizes outstanding leadership, innovation, and measurable results in enhancing the safety of their employees, those travelling with them, as well as everyone else who shares the road with them. A panel of industry judges evaluated the award nominees and selected this year’s winner.
“We embrace safety and weave safety into every aspect of the company culture,” said Tammy Evans upon learning of the award. “Starting with the corporate mission statement, which is a safety-based promise to both employees and customer, and then extending to all areas of our business, our commitment to safety comes first,” continued Evans. “I’m thrilled, on the behalf of Modern, to win this award as it is a reflection of our commitment and dedication to operating the safest fleet on the road.”
“Modern is a shining example of a comprehensive fleet safety program, starting with hiring and training practices, and including the use of innovative driver performance and safety management technology such as the GreenRoad service,” said Tanya Roberts, senior vice president of marketing, GreenRoad.
“We use GreenRoad as it provides an in-cab feedback system that is like having a driver coach with each driver, each mile, every day. GreenRoad collects real-time data, measuring potentially dangerous events such as harsh braking, sharp cornering and speeding that are then translated into a driver safety score. We are managing our drivers to scores of less than 10 which are considered very good. This plays a vital role in our overall safety program as drivers work to improve their driving skills and deliver the lowest scores possible,” continued Evans.
The Fleet Safety Award criteria included accident statistics, submission of the fleets vehicle safety policy, and additional details on safety programs including MVR’s, drug and alcohol testing, policy acknowledgement sign off, safety training and frequency, award programs in place, and details on how drivers are measured for driving risk, among others.
